Workshopping Meeting: Scaling the Network

For the close of the MacArthur Research Network’s second year, a series of workshops were held to ideate around connecting network projects to a greater audience. Network members and guests included Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT Media Lab, Columbia Business School, The Governance Lab, Carleton University, Cornell Tech, Arizona State University, University of Regina, Harvard Business School, MindLab, University of Toronto, Pew Research Center, mySociety, The OpEd Project, and W3C. Three workshops and related events attempted to answer questions like:

  • How can the Network communicate findings and insights to a larger public conversation?
  • In what ways can we enable the free flow of knowledge, ideas and expertise between governments in the interest of collaboratively addressing common challenges experienced in countries around the world?
  • What are some of the best and worst things that might happen as personal data stored in online silos become integrated, and how can we help steer that toward the good?
